Not-so-great Weekly Recap

0 for 0 on getting all of my weekly goals done. :( I finally got my ab exercices in last week but am still not on track for my 200 miles/mnth and have yet to get in my sprints. I'm still not giving up though. The good thing is that I said "average 200 miles/month" so technically I could have some 80 mile weeks in the summer and make up for it, right??

I'm headed off to Spain this Friday for a week so it's doubtful I'll get miles in; I don't think our hotel has a gym and I don't know if I'm brave enough to aimlessly run around a Spanish neighborhood at night. We'll see.

I am, however, making a new 3-month bet with my friends starting this weekend and so I'm adding stiuplations that say while I'm abroad, I have to do an hour of random exercises each day. Got to work off that constant restaurant food!

Goal Update

  • Only 36 miles from last week, and that week even counted nine days instead of seven. :(
  • I only did one ab workout, not two. I'm gonna change that! I wanted to change the font to blue so bad.
  • Still no sprint workout yet.
  • No morning run today.
  • I have to run eight miles this afternoon- will most likely take place on the treadmill

Mornin 5 Miler

I didn't run yesterday so I could help the knee out a little bit and I actually stretched last night for about 10 minutes. I woke up and thank goodness, the knee felt better! Wow, stretching works. Go figure.

So Jon and I made it out for five miles this morning and I brought my new reusable hand warmers. So, they were too big to fit in my regular running gloves so I put them in big, fluffy mittens. They were awesome in the beginning and super warm and my hands got sweaty but then after 10 minutes, the mittens let the cold air in and then the warmers got stuck in their contorted position and no longer gave off heat. :(

Hmm.

Well anyway, I'm not off to a good start with this 50mi/wk thing. Gotta make it up!

Back of Knee Pain

For the past couple of weeks the back of my knee has felt weird, kind of tight or something. It feels like my leg isn't being extended enough, like I can't stretch it fully and it needs to pop. What the heck does that mean? I notice it sometimes when I run and sometimes when I do Zumba.

Unfortunately I hate anything that's related to anatomy so when I tried researching the "injury" online, I got a sick feeling. Ugh. But, the leg's not swollen and I don't hear a popping sound; I don't think it locks up but I don't know. I hope I didn't tear a ligament or something. If I did, wouldn't the pain be sharper and constant?

Is it all this non-stretching catching up with me? Old age? I think I'll play my naive card again and hope for the best but didn't know if you guys are familiar with this feeling??

Six Goals for 2011

Well...I couldn't think of any more than six goals (half of which I stole from this guy) so here they are for 2011:

1. Run another 100 miler
2. Complete at least one 100 mile non-race week
3. Average 200 miles/month
4. Run at least five ultra races
5. Do at least two ab workouts 2x/wk (notice how I don't specify what a "workout" is)
6. Do a set of sprints 2x/month

I think #1-4 are attainable and #5-6 are iffy. I just can't make myself do any other workout other than running (and Zumba, of course). That's why I got injured back in April- for not strengthening any other muscles- butttt...oh well. Life's tough.

CA Video & Pics

Here's a video from running on the beach in CA last week. It'll probably be pretty boring to you all but it's nice just seeing the scenery.

CA Recap & 2009 Mileage

I finally got in some miles out here in CA. I ran the 6.5 miles on Thursday, 8.5 on Friday, 10.5 on Saturday, and only 6.5 today in the wind and rain. We went on a nice hike up a mountain yesterday just for 1.5 hours. Man- it'd be awesome to train on that path every week. Are all the CA runners 50x better than everyone else? It seems like they would have to be because of all their resources.

Anyway, it feels great to get the legs moving and I hope to keep it up. Back on the plane to Indy tonight and arrive tomorrow morning.

It'd be nice to get in 200 miles/mth for 2011 but I don't know if I'll be dedicated enough to keep it up the each time. We'll see. I'll count the 17 miles from today and yesterday towards the total. :)
