5 mile run

I drove to IL by myself last weekend and so I listened to A Million Little Pieces (yes, I know it's fake) on cd (which, by the way, would be better read). I decided to listen to it while I ran yesterday and it turned out to be very helpful, although it was annoying to hold that big portable cd player. It took me awhile to get into the groove of running but I went 5 miles and felt fine. I think I need to find a really good, intense book and listen to it during future ultras.

So you listen to audiobooks while running? I never thought of that! It actually seems to good to be true because it's like killing two birds with one stone. I never read and I wish I read more, and it's hard to run for extended lengths of time because I get bored. I wonder if I should try putting some podcasts or audiobooks on my ipod.

I've always wanted to run while listenting to a book on tape but I never went to the library to get one. I'm glad I finally did and I would LOVE to download some onto a smaller ipod or something of the sort. Try it!

Nice ways to keep your mind busy. Way to go! Now I need to go out in the snow and the rain to get my run in.

My main problem is that I run on a treadmill. It's not bad during football season because I have Sportscenter to watch while I run, but soon that will be over and it will be crap-ass baseball stuff. I just wonder if I'll be able to focus on a book on tape. I'm sure it won't be any more difficult than focusing on ESPN...

Brian: I'd recommend listening to a book that you've already read and that you really like so that it keeps your attention. Lord of the Rings?
